WALTER JAMES SEYMOUR


Walter James Seymour was born May 26, 1903, in Chefoo, China, the son of medical missionaries.

He attended the China Inland Mission Schools in Chefoo and the Shanghai American schools. Graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1925 with an A.B., he received his M.D. from Nortwestern University in 1929.

Dr. Seymour interned at Queen's Hospital and then went to Hawaii where he established himself in private practice at Holualoa, Kona.

On July 5, 1933, he married Miss Sadie Smythe of Honolulu. They had four sons: Walter Frederick, Randolph, R. L. Scott and James Russell.

Dr. Seymour died May 21, 1953, at Kona Hospital, within a few days of his 50th birthday.

He was a member of the American Medical Association, the Hawaii Territorial Medical Association, Hawaii County Medical Society and a charter member and the first president of the Kona Lions club.
