He came to the Islands about 1826 and was long the medical attendant of Kalaimoku, Kaahumanu and Governor Kuakini, high chiefs of the nation.
At the time of his death Dr. Pelman was government vaccinating officer for Hawaii.
Dr. Pelman died at Hilo, Hawaii, on March 16, 1857 at the age of 60.
