HARRY A. BAERS


Dr. Harry A. Baers was born on April 11,1914 in Pennsylvania. He was a physician in the U.S. Navy and later practiced in Los Angeles and at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was stationed at Bellows Field in Oahu on December 7, 1941.

Dr. Baers was a long-time member of the Mid-Pacific Country Club,Oahu, where he played golf. He was an excellent skier and once did helicopter skiing in Chile. He enjoyed scuba diving and world travel. He went on treks to the Himalayas, the Karakoram Highway, China's Silk Road, Tibet, Africa, and Antarctica. The year before his death he traveled to Turkey and France.

His first wife, Donna, was a nurse with him in 1941. Dr. Baers died at home in Kailua, Hawaii on February 5, 2004. He was survived by his wife, Nelly, and two children: Ron and Marlo; and a step-daughter, Joelle. He was predeceased by a son, Roger.
