Dr. Hajime "Jimmy" Akita was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on October 13, 1910. He received his medical degree from the College of Medical Evangelists, Loma Linda, California, in 1941. He interned at White Memorial Hospital (College of Medical. Evangelists) from 1940-41. He was the house physician at Kuakini Hospital, Honolulu, from 1941-45. He was in general practice in Honolulu until retirement in 1982.
Dr. Akita was a member of the American Medical Association, the Hawaii Medical Association, and the Honolulu County Medical Society. He and his wife, Alice, had two children: Linda Emy and Jerry Seiji. Dr. Akita died on March 3, 2000 at the age of 89.
