The Queen's Medical Center Auxiliary was established in 1953 to correlate existing volunteer services and expand them to other areas. Volunteers operated under the auspices of the "Stranger's Friend Society", the "Hospital Flower Society," and the "Ladies Auxiliary Committee", as well as Social Services and Occupational Therapy. After 54 years of valuable service and fundraising for Queen's Medical Center, the Auxiliary voted to dissolve on April 19, 2007.

Major projects of the Auxiliary through four decades include the Festival of Trees; The Gift and Book Shop which opened in 1960, the Ruth E. Black Scholarship Fund which began granting aid in 1974; the School Tour Program which was launched in 1976; and the Queen Emma Gallery which was dedicated in 1977.
Several smaller projects have been undertaken by the Auxiliary including assistance to the Expectant Parents classes, white elephant and bake sales, fashion shows and disaster drill liaisons. Auxilians also knit wool caps for the newborn babies at Queen's Medical Center, and for oncology patients. Funds have been provided for Christmas at Queen's, Kekela and Social Services Department patient needs, Queen Emma Clinics outpatient meals and pediatric recreational supplies.
The Queen's Medical Center Auxiliary was a founding member of the Hawaii Council of Hospital Auxiliaries.
Since its inception the Auxiliary has raised over $3,700,000 through its many endeavors. Auxilians also volunteer in many departments of the Medical Center, remaining faithful to the Auxiliary's original purpose.
