The Hawaii Medical Library is pleased to offer a variety of classes for its affiliated users. Our classes are designed to meet the needs of the Queen's Medical Center's staff and employees. Unless requested, all classes are held in the Library's conference room. Specialized classes may be developed for affiliated users at their request, as time permits.
All classes are being offered as one-on-one sessions and free of charge to affiliated users of the library.
This hands-on workshop provides participants with an opportunity to fully utilize the features available in MDConsult, ScienceDirect, and clinical decision support tools.

This class will cover additional evidence-based medicine (EBM) principles, research tools and search techniques. Participants will learn about databases such as Cochrane Library and how to use special filters developed to find evidence-based medicine citations in Medline.

This hands-on workshop covers searching CINAHL Plus, a nursing and allied health database, using the EBSCOhost interface.

This hands-on workshop will teach participants to search Medline using the Ovid interface. During this 60-minute workshop, participants will learn how to construct a search strategy and locate journal articles on a particular topic. Techniques for narrowing and broadening results and use of Medical Subject Headings for more effective searching will be covered. Participants will also learn how to access the complete text of selected core biomedical journals using Ovid.

This workshop will introduce participants to searching Medline using the National Library of Medicine's PubMed interface. During this workshop, participants will also learn how to print and save selected citations. Search features such as Limits and Related Articles will be covered as well. This workshop will provide the skills necessary to use the free PubMed version of Medline from any Internet connection.
